MycoScope™ PCR Mycoplasma Detection Kit
Sensitive and rapid detection of mycoplasma infection
The MycoScope™ Plasma Detection Kit is designed to optimize laboratory efficiency while ensuring precise and early detection of mycoplasma contamination. With high-sensitivity detection, rapid results, and compatibility with existing PCR setups, this kit simplifies lab workflows, reduces the risk of contamination spread, and saves valuable time and resources. Its user-friendly design, featuring distinct banding for easy analysis and the option of direct testing of cell supernatants, makes MycoScope™ an essential tool for maintaining sterility and accuracy in a wide range of experiments.
Features and Benefits
- Accurate and Reliable Results
- MycoScope™ has simplified detection criteria with distinct banding at 500bp on agarose gel, minimizing analysis time for the lab and reducing the chance of errors due to a simple readout.
- Capable of detecting <5 mycoplasma genomes per μL of sample with high sensitivity to provide confidence in the sterility of your cultures
- Enhanced Mycoplasma Contamination Control
- Rapid detection within 3 hours allows for faster validation, reducing the risk of spreading potential contamination.
- Early detection of contamination ensures sterility across the lab, preventing resource waste on contaminated cells.
- Streamlined Lab Operations
- Simplified inventory management and cost efficiencies as compatibility with existing PCR setups eliminates the need for purchasing specialized primers for different mycoplasma strains.
- Reduction in complexity for lab staff, as the high sensitivity of MycoScope™ allows it to be used across different cells and experiments, meaning standardized protocols for mycoplasma testing.
- Option of direct testing of cell supernatants without additional DNA extraction saves time and effort.
Application Data
It has been shown that >80% of cell cultures are infected with mycoplasma. Contaminating mycoplasma may grow slowly without killing the cells and lead to unreliable results. Testing for mycoplasma is a necessary quality control measure in most labs. Although agar cultures as well as DNA fluorochrome staining methods can be used for mycoplasma detection, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is the established method of choice for high-sensitivity detection.
