Bromodomains (BRDs) are protein domains that recognize and bind to acetylated lysine residues on nucleosomes. By transducing the signals conveyed by these residues, bromodomains found on chromatin-associated proteins are able to regulate gene expression by translating these signals into normal or abnormal phenotypes. Bromodomains play a key role in chromatin remodeling and are therefore crucial for epigenetic gene regulation.

Proteins containing bromodomains have been implicated in the development of a large number of diseases including cancer, obesity, inflammation and diabetes.

The Inhibitor Screening Assay Kits are designed to measure the inhibition of bromodomain protein binding to its substrate. The key to the Assay Kits is the highly specific binding of the bromodomains to the acetylated histone substrate.
