Aptamers For Infectious Diseases
Tools to advance your viral diseases research.
Aptamers are oligonucleotides that bind to a specific target molecule with high specificity and affinity. Aptamers identify and bind their targets by recognizing their 3-dimensional structure and are a great alternative to using antibodies. Virus-related infectious diseases are a major cause of human illnesses and mortality. For this reason, it is necessary to search for new approaches to early-stage diagnostic assay and adequate therapy.
AMSBIO offers aptamers for several infectious diseases including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Zika, MERS, and Hepatitis C.

SARS-CoV-2
SARS-CoV-2 emerged in Wuhan around November 2019 causing an outbreak of disease named COVID-19. This virus contains four structural proteins: spike (S) glycoprotein, envelope (E) protein, membrane (M) protein, and nucleocapsid (N) protein. Spike glycoprotein is a key surface protein of coronaviruses, mediating the entrance of the virus to cells by interacting with cell surface receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2).
We offer aptamers targeting SARS-CoV-2 Spike1 protein, SARS-CoV-2 RBD protein, SARS-CoV-2 Spike2 protein and SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid.

MERS-CoV
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is an illness caused by a coronavirus called Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). Most MERS patients developed severe respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath.
We offer aptamers targeting MERS-CoV Spike1 protein, and MERS-CoV Nucleoprotein.

Hepatitis C Virus
Hepatitis C is an inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus. The virus can cause both acute and chronic hepatitis, ranging in severity from a mild illness to a serious, lifelong illness including liver cirrhosis and cancer.
We offer aptamers targeting HCV Core / genotype 1b, and HCV E2 / genotype 2a.

Zika Virus
Zika virus disease is caused by a virus transmitted primarily by mosquitoes. While symptoms are generally mild, Zika virus infection during pregnancy can cause infants to be born with microcephaly and other congenital malformations. Infection with Zika virus is also associated with other complications of pregnancy including preterm birth and miscarriage. An increased risk of neurologic complications is associated with Zika virus infection in adults and children, including Guillain-Barré syndrome, neuropathy and myelitis.
We offer aptamers targeting HCV Core / genotype 1b, and HCV E2 / genotype 2a.
